Online Cards vs. Physical Library Card

An online card allows members to access our eResources. Online cards are available to members who do not require borrowing access to the physical collection, or whose member account does not permit them to have access to borrowing physical items from the library. Users can sign up online and receive a valid User ID via email. The online user registration is valid for 60 days. 

Physical library cards are used to place holds on items and for checking out items.  Please do not use your online card for placing a hold because you will not move up the holds list. We don't recommend signing up for an account in the catalogue using an online card. Visit us to pick up a physical library card.

Georgina Public Library (GPL) cards are free to anyone living, working, attending school, or paying taxes in Georgina.
We also have  reciprocal borrowing agreements:

• Aurora Public Library
• East Gwillimbury Public Library
• King Township Public Library
• Markham Public Library
• Richmond Hill Public Library
• Vaughan Public Library
• Brock Township Public Library

Any materials borrowed from our reciprocal partners must be returned to that lending library. Georgina Public Library is unable to return materials to those lending partners on your behalf.

Update about your PIN

The PIN you have been using is now case-sensitive. You can still use your existing PIN, but if you are having trouble logging in, it could be an issue with lowercase/uppercase letters. If you wish to create a new PIN, the PIN now must be between 4 and 10 characters long and include 4 numbers.

Need to change your PIN? Go to our catalogue, login, go to Settings > Password > enter new password.

How to obtain a Georgina Public Library (GPL) card 

Come to one of our three locations with proof that you are eligible for a library card.
Options for proof include:

• a piece of identification that shows your current address (e.g. driver's licence)
• a property tax bill
• a student card or other proof of enrollment in an educational institution
• employment information (e.g. employment letter or pay stub)

If you do not live, work, or attend school in one of the above municipalities, you may purchase a non-resident membership for $30.00 per person or $50.00 per family, per year.

• Children under the age of 13 require a parent or guardian co-signer who assumes responsibility for library materials borrowed.
• Materials cannot be borrowed without your library card.
• To renew your card, every two years you will be asked to provide your proof of eligibility and update your contact information.
